FREE Dementia Education and Information Sessions for Carers and Volunteers

Macedon Ranges Health are hosting two sessions run by Alzheimers Australia on Dementia Education and information. The first session will be for volunteers and will provide knowledge on how to better understand the nature of dementia and how to effectively interact with a person living with dementia in your volunteer work. The second session is for carers, families and friends of a person living with dementia. The session will provide an understand of dementia by exploring how a healthy brain works and will address the main causes, key signs and symptons of dementia and explain why behaviour changes with dementia. Common myths and misconceptions will also be discussed. A brief overview of AAV support services will conclude the session.
Volunteers Session - 9.30 to 12.30pm
Carers Session - 2.00 to 3.00pm
Please note both sessions will take place at the Macedon Ranges Health Centre, 5 Neal Street Gisborne.
