Social Skills Group for Girls to launch in October
12 September 2016
Macedon Ranges Health will commence an innovative Social Skills Group for girls commencing in October 2016 (term four). The aim of the Group is to assist girls with their communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, and is primarily for girls who have been given an ASD diagnosis or have social skill difficulties.
The Group is a weekly one-hour nine-week programme run by a Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapist at the Macedon Ranges Health Centre located at 5 Neal Street, Gisborne.
Sessions will be held 5.00pm – 6.00pm on Thursdays for 9-12 year old girls, and 4.00pm – 5.00pm on Fridays for 6-8 year old girls, at a cost of $150 for the 9-week term.
Dietlind Schutte Occupational Therapist at Macedon Ranges Health said “This is a great opportunity for girls to participate in fun activities, meet new people and make friends whilst improving their communication and social skills. We are fortunate to be able to provide this program and I look forward to meeting this group of girls.”
Parents and Siblings are welcome to stay to share a cuppa with other families at our onsite café.
